Alison Drover
Alison lives in the ‘Barn’ at Corndale in the Northern Rivers hinterland of New South Wales where she grows her own food, shares chickens, composts, has a worm farm and runs her businesses, Fork in the Field and The Alison Principle.

Alison’s favorite television show as a little girl was, to no surprise, the backyard greenies self-sustainable The Good Life!

A recipe and food writer, chef, sustainable food consultant, educator and event designer, Alison is a champion of food sustainability and corporate and social responsibility. She is recognised for her collaborative creativity in design of community events that inspire, educate, and contribute to positive change. She co-hosts a community radio food show in Byron Bay and is actively involved in local community food projects.

Alison recently established Fork in the Field, a range of cooking/growing classes for adults and children designed around improving traditional food skills, gardening and conserving and preserving food as well as regional and local food tours. On the stove is a range of Fork in the Field local, sustainabe and organically produced products and more Fork in the Field events like the recent ‘A nod to the honey birds and the bees’.

Toni Salter, The Veggie Lady
Toni Salter (aka The Veggie Lady) has transformed her suburban Sydney backyard into a productive paradise that feeds her family of four as well as participants of her in-house organic gardening workshops.  Based on permaculture principles, her yard includes an organic kitchen garden, herb garden, fruit trees, five chickens and a blue-tongue lizard squatter.

Being concerned about the high price of some organic produce, Toni’s aim is to teach people how to easily and effectively grow their own food at home for less.

Toni is a Registered Horticulturist but believes that most of her learning has been gained on the ground… literally!  She’s been growing her own veggies for 15 years and has been offering classes in organic gardening since 2002. Workshops and courses are listed at www.theveggielady.com. She has helped people with ‘backyards’ of all sizes – from small apartment balconies through to large suburban blocks – to grow great tasting, fresh organic food by providing workshops and online tutorials. She also publishes free organic garden guides every month for her Veggie Club members at www.theveggieclub.com and she invites you to join the organic gardening discussion on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Veggie-Club/208424652507302
